For anybody who fancies going exploring a few miles outside of Blackpool, Sir Ranulph Fiennes is helping to launch Lancaster Arts' Autumn season on Thursday.

The famous explorer will be joined on stage at Lancaster University’s Great Hall by fellow explorer Sir Chris Bonington.

The pair, who are also good friends, will be sharing anecdotes and “remarkable stories” about their travels as Bonington interviews Fiennes.

Ranulph Fiennes is a record-breaking explorer, whose on foot expeditions to the furthest reaches of the earth have pushed the limits of human exploration and challenged him to overcome his greatest fear: heights. A somewhat surprising fear for an experienced mountaineer, Fiennes admits his fear of heights is so great, he’d rather send his wife up a ladder to clean the gutters than do it himself.

The talk is in support of Fiennes’ new book Fear and it will engage with Fiennes’ personal experiences of fear, what it is, why we experience it, and how he has overcome his own.

Each ticket holder will receive a complimentary copy of ‘Fear’, along with the opportunity to have it personally signed by Sir Ranulph at the end of the talk.
