The single is the first in her new material for fans and was written last year while the Fylde coast music maker was living along Venice Beach in California.

She was fortunate to have been able to have filmed the video for 'Orange Rose' in Las Vegas just before Christmas last year.

The 33 year-old said: “I had the idea about a concept of self-destructive behaviour, a constant running away from our fears which potentially ends in us running away from the people who can make us whole again.

“In a world where we sometimes feel we can’t speak out, we tend to take it the worst out on people closest to us.”

The new release is a welcome return to the spotlight, for the Blackpool songstress, who’s had two albums released on major labels and one via a Crowdfunding campaign, and received backing from the likes of Jools Holland, Paul Simon, The Stereophonics and Skunk Anansie, who she toured with in 2014.

After moving to London, Karima followed her dream of moving to America and releasing her music Stateside. She took the plunge last year and ‘Orange Rose’ was one of a number of new songs penned in California, as the singer found herself instinctively drawn to the sun and sounds radiating from the West Coast and its simmering alternative scene.

She found 'a kindred spirit' in LA producer Tim Carr (who also produced her ‘Shelf Life’ track of 2019), she added: “I was fantasising about making more, organic, saturated sounding records for a long time and alongside this, I wanted to record out in America as I was finding most of my musical influences were artists from America.”

“Last year I made the move to go out to California to find the sound for the new record and to immerse myself in the West Coast indie/alternative scene and out there, the relationship with Tim bloomed and the music was made.”

The record also features appearances from close friend Simon Edwards on bass, plus London-based singer/songwriter Klara from Sweden.

Produced by Tim Carr, the track was further mastered by Grammy-nominated Phillip Shaw Bova (Andy Shauf, Father John Misty).

The single 'Orange Rose' is out now.
