Kayla, who lives off Waterloo Road, said: “I’ve always wanted to be in the magazines and on billboards in cities.

“I applied for it one day not thinking anything would happen and when I got in I was just over the moon.

“Anybody could apply but only 20 got through to the first heat.”

Kayla will compete in three rounds in the first heat, modelling designer clothes and a dress and bikini of her own choice.

She said: “Its an amazing opportunity that I have been given. I have always wanted to push myself to do a competition and now I’m doing one, it’s amazing!

“I have had photo shoots done before but never had the chance to be part of a huge event like this before.

“I am currently preparing by keeping myself healthy and keeping myself fit by going to the gym.”

The first-place winner of the heat, which is set for Thursday, will win a £1,000 photo shoot with top fashion photographer Nathan Damour.

Kayla said: “I’m nervous, but I’m really excited at the same time.”

Miss Swimsuit UK founder Verena Twigg said: “This competition is all about empowering women to be their boldest, most beautiful and confident self.

“Our competition celebrates women who enjoy healthy and active lifestyles. The process will be tough, but the opportunities that await the winner are life changing.”
