CHART-topping American singer Alexis Jordan is the star guest at The Flamingo on Saturday.

The singer and actress from Columbia, South Carolina, rose to fame as a contestant on the first season of America’s Got Talent in 2006. She sang Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing at her audition and made it through to next round, only to be eliminated in the semi-finals.

After being eliminated from the show, she began to upload cover songs to YouTube, and received millions of views. The exposure led Jordan to the attention of Norwegian production team Stargate and American rapper Jay-Z, who both went on to sign her to their label, StarRoc/Roc Nation.

Her debut single, Happiness, was released last September and reached number one in Norway and the Netherlands, and also became a top-five hit in Australia and the United Kingdom. Jordan’s self-titled debut album was released in February.

Happiness reached number one on the US Hot Dance Club Songs and, in Australia, was certified triple platinum, for shipments of 210,000 copies.

Good Girl was released as Jordan’s second single in February 2011. The song hit number six on the UK singles chart and her album charted at number nine.

Her third single Hush Hush from the album looks like set to be another monster hit. Currently supporting JLS on their UK tour, Alexis is appearing live at The Flamingo on Saturday as part of their American Independence weekend.
