Tomorrow night’s Blackpool Ball sees the welcome return back to the live scene of local band The Monster Squad.

The popular funk outfit has been out of action for three months since founder member and frontman Luke Gribbon was diagnosed with cancer of his thyroid gland.

“It started when I got a lump on my throat and I went to see about it,” said the now fully recovered Luke. “It was a bit of a shock but Rod Stewart had suffered from something similar so I was in good company.”

Thankfully for Luke the operation was successful – and he was given the green light to resume singing.

“The band had to cancel a load of gigs but this one set me a real target to aim for because it is such a major event,” he said.

Tomorrow’s ball, which runs from 9pm to 4am, also includes sets from Graeme Park, Horse Meat Disco, Elesse-Kaluki, John Morales and many more. It takes place in the Winter Gardens and remaining tickets are £20 plus booking fee from outlets throughout town.
