Blackpool Grand Theatre archivists, Geoff and Linda Tolson MBE are hosting A Grand Archive Evening revealing the history and restoration of the Grade II* listed Victorian theatre.
This celebration of the Grand Theatre will be informally presented by Geoff and Linda as they guide people through the venue’s varied and remarkable history.
Starting with the building of the theatre in 1894 they will reveal details of the architect, Frank Matcham and his work on the Grand Theatre and further afield including the London Palladium.
Discover the stories behind the decline of the theatre in the 1960s after it was purchased by EMI and then hear the remarkable tale of the struggle to save the theatre before being brought back to the present day, the work of the Trust and the conservation and development of the theatre.
Throughout the evening find out more about the stars that have appeared on the Grand’s stage, browse old programmes and theatre deeds and view photographs of the theatre through the years.
A Grand Archive Evening takes place on Wednesday September 28 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 and include a glass of wine and canapes.
Tickets are limited.
