Wyper sprints to Scottish silver
She enjoyed an excellent debut with a wind-assisted PB of 11.61 to win silver behind Diani Walker of England.
It looked to be a perfect evening for Wyper when she anchored the Scottish women’s team to relay victory ahead of Denmark; however, they were disqualified for a changeover infringement.

Hide AdFiona Hockey has had a season interrupted by injury and an appendix operation but, at the Welsh Junior Championships in Wrexham, she was in good form by winning the pole vault in a championship best of 3.70m.
There was a clean sweep of medals for the BWFAC Under-15 girls’ pole vault squad at the Northern Athletics U13/U15/U17 Championships.
Jasmine Carey won the Under-15s’ event with 3.40m, breaking the previous championship best by 40cm, with training partners Amelia Shearman (2.90m) and Minnie Rogers (2.70mk) winning silver and bronze respectively.
Bradley Parsons won Under-17 100m bronze with 11.65s and also ran 24.74s in the 200m, while James Nicholas (38.90s) was fourth in the Under-15s’ 300m and Danielle Whipp (2:23.87) sixth in the Under-17s’ 800m.

Hide AdSusan Ball competed in the hammer (26.89m), discus (27.66m), javelin (19.66m) and shot (7.36m) at the Trafford AC competition, with Daniel Hayes (1:57.01), George Robinson (2:07.94) and Jess Rogers (2:21.85) running the 800m.
Rogers posted a 1,500m PB of 4:50.35 at the BMC Grand Prix, while Luke Rawcliffe was seventh male in the Epic Swim 500m at Coniston Water.
Eight senior BWFAC runners travelled to Tywyn in mid-Wales for the 14-mile Race the Train Rotary Challenge.
Peter Singleton led the squad on the very muddy course in 360th place (2:09:49) with Simon Reason 513th (2:22:30), Derek Crane 563rd (2:26:50), Simon Scarr 630th (2:34:04), John Reason 634th (2:34:39), Bob Massey 706th (2:44:01) and Bernard Singleton 758th (2:56:57). Alan Smart was forced to withdraw after six miles through illness.
