A Wright good run from BWFAC's Bev

The Garstang Half Marathon saw Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde's Bev Wright finish as second lady and 42nd overall in a very good time of 1:34.35.

Three new runners, part of Bob Massey’s beginners group, competed in the Clay and Billycock 10K.

Nickola Walker and Amanda Fuller both finished in 1:10.55 and Fiona Little in 1:21.10.

At the IPC Championship, held in conjunction with the England Under-15/17 Championship, Isaac Towers was first in both the 400m (53.40s) and 1,500m (3:29.18) as well as second in the 200m (29.83s).

Other notable track and field performances came at Stretford via Danielle Whipp in the 1,500m (5:01.78, PB) and Jess Rogers in the 800m (2:21.92).

At the Southport Waterloo Medal meeting Riley Nagle won bronze in the 100m (12.6s) and silver in the 400m (55.8s, PB) as well as claiming fourth in the 200m.

Scott Sinclair won silver in the long jump (4.49m) and Leah Howard bronze in the high jump (1.45m).

Luke Rawcliffe won with a course record of 7:12 at the 2K Park View junior parkrun, ahead of Rafael Eaton (second, 7:41), Forest Leah (third, 7:49), Lucy Tickle (fifth, 8:03), Bethany Whipp (eighth, 8:03), Gracie Scott (10th, 8:32) and Holly Tickle (15th, 9:00).

This parkrun was used as part of BWFAC’s Junior Road Race Championship with Rawcliffe winning the Under-13 boys’ title and Scott the Under-11 girls’ trophy.

There were 17 BWFAC runners at the Blackpool parkrun, led home by George Robinson (fourth, 19:38).

At the Lytham Hall parkrun, Michelle Tickle posted 21:25 for 25th place.

BWFAC’s monthly club handicap attracted 25 runners to the 4.72 mile course.

It was only Jess Rogers’ second handicap and she set off with Steve Dunn, as she was still uncertain of the route.

She was first back and finished in the fastest time and PB of 23:20, while Dunn also posted a PB of 24:40.

Good times were recorded by Nick Hume (25:01), Vet 50 Karen Dunford (27:40), Vet 60 Alison Titterington (29:34) and Vet 70 Reg Smallbone (27:26).
