The Wesham squad was down in numbers and also helped out with marshals and officials.

The senior women ran a 6K course of one large lap and two smaller ones and Wesham just had enough runners for a team.

Elsewhere it was a quiet weekend in the local athletics calendar.

Alan Taylor was first home in the Caldervale Muddy Shoes cross country event on Sunday, completing the five-mile course in a time of 46:39.

It was a navigational course with a map provided but his lifelong knowledge of the area helped and he stuck rigidly to the course.

Steven Gore ran the 11-mile route and finished in a time of 1:42.45 for 17th place and 11th male as some very good women also took part.
