Clifton’s promotion to the A league meant these sides were meeting competitively for the first time in over two years.

After a cagey start, Foxhall made the breakthrough when Dylan Henshall skipped through the defence, rounded the keeper and calmly slotted the ball into the open net.

The second half was more open as chances fell to both sides, Foxhall keeper Wll Hammond producing a fantastic save. The Clifton keeper also excelled to stop shots by Harry Melia and Kaiden Shorrocks.

The second goal was always going to be crucial and Shorrocks scored it when he latched on to a long ball by Ben Lloyd to fire home.

Aiden Wright added a third before Foxhall man of the match Dylan Henshall rounded things off with a 30-yard free-kick. James Clacher was outstanding for Clifton

Both teams returned to action the following day in the county cup.
