The first competitive period of the season for Under-9s and Under-10s in the Poulton and District Primary League got under way last weekend, with 82 teams scheduled to play cup fixtures.

However, the heavy overnight rain saw many fixtures postponed, though some were played.

In U9 Group A, Foxhall overcame Spirit of Youth Avengers. Wyre Juniors Blacks edged a high-scoring Group B encounter at Fleetwood Town, while Sporting Foxhall had a narrow victory over Lytham in Group C.

Group E saw Thornton Cleveleys Blues edge past Wyre Juniors Whites, while a high-scoring affair in Group B saw BJFF Blades Whites win by a single goal at Staining Juniors.

It was 5-5 until the last minute, when the Blades netted their dramatic winner.

Two games were possible in Group H, with FC Rangers victorious at Fleetwood Town Whites and South Shore Youth Tigers overcoming Blackpool Rangers Tangerines.

FC Rangers had to fight hard for their 2-0 win, with goals from Xavier Gil and Dylan Nicholas.

Fleetwood got a goal back but FC’s man of match goalkeeper Kristian Powers made some outstanding saves to keep his side ahead.

In the U10 competition, St Annes Blacks defeated BJFF Predators Blues in Group A and Foxhall recorded a narrow victory at Wyre Juniors in Group B.

Group E saw St. Annes Greens overcome Poulton Town Panthers, while St Annes Purples were victorious at AFC Blackpool Whites in Group F.

Clifton Rangers Wasps won at South Shore Youth Reds in Group G, while Group H saw BJFF Predators Whites won at Clifton Rangers Bees.

Dylan Taylor was outstanding for BJFF, who were 4-0 up at half-time and finally prevailed 5-3 after the hosts came back strongly.

In the same group, Fleetwood Town overcome Staining Juniors and Foxhall Hoops edged pas South Shore Youth Warriors by the odd goal.

Hopefully the weather will be kinder for the next round of fixtures on Saturday.
