Fylde rugby union club second row forward Gareth Gore has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2013-14 season.

Gore has been sidelined with a serious shoulder injury, so his place for Saturday’s home clash with struggling Henley Hawks is taken by Joe Robinson.

It is an important match for both sides - for widely diverging reasons.

Henley Hawks come to the Woodlands Memorial Ground needing points to aid their bid to escape from the threat of relegation in National League One, while home coach Mark Nelson wants to see his side finish the campaign on the front foot.

Fylde have lost four of their last five matches, culminating in them being ‘nilled’ by Richmond last Saturday.

Nelson said: “I could go into reasons why we have lost four matches, but the facts are there in black-and-white.

“We are playing against another team that is team desperate for points and they are right in the mix at the bottom of the table.

“Henley are fighting for their lives and will be on a high after a good win over Worthing last Saturday and they have five players from London Welsh in their ranks now.

“We are fourth in the table, which is a great achievement, but we need to finish on a high in our last three matches of the season.”

For tomorrow’s fixture centre Stephen Briers returns to the side, with Scott Barrow dropping to the bench.

Steve McGinnis returns to the back row, while Tom Burtonwood comes in at hooker with Mark Rylance named on the replacements’ bench.

Johnny Wild is named on the bench as cover for the front row.

Simon Griffiths is out of the squad as he is unavailable due to work commitments.

Nelson said: “The idea behind including Wild is that the intention is for him to play in the last three matches of the season.”

Hawks are in 13th place in table and in the closing weeks they have been casting nervous glances over their shoulders as 14th placed Cinderford are just a point behind, but they boast two matches in hand.

Tomorrow’s match takes place on ladies’ day at the club with Stringers’ department store among the sponsors.
