Strongman Bren muscling up for a television repea

As we reported last week, electrician Bren from Norbreck is competing again eight years after reaching the televised finals of the UK’s Strongest Man championship – the only Fylde coast resident ever to do so.

Qualification for the UK finals was again at stake on Sunday, when Bren’s best performance came in the deadlift, in which he placed third.

Bren, who took an extended break from competition following the birth of daughter Isabelle, told The Gazette: “We had a great competition and it was a very tough group of the UK’s best.

“I had a couple of good events, a couple of average ones and one not so good.

“And I made a couple of silly mistakes due to being a bit rusty. Onwards and upwards now.”

Bren has qualified for the Scotland’s Strongest Man finals in October, when he will have a further opportunity to qualify for the UK showpiece.

He wishes to thank Dean Finegan at the Defiance Gym in Poulton and Carol Bridson of the Backroom Pilates Studio in Cleveleys for all their help and support.
