Sport Blackpool organised an Early Year’s Sport and Physical Activity Festival.
It involved activities the young children would have experienced as part of the Sport Blackpool Early Start programme, which aims to engage children aged five and under in fun-based physical activity within and beyond the nursery day. The programme aims to help staff in nurseries to deliver high-quality physical activity sessions for Blackpool’s future generation. It is delivered over a six-week period and covers a wide range of games and activities.

Children from West Park Kindergarten, St Johns Vianny and Talbot and Brunswick Nursery took part in the Festival, with GB Paralympic medalist Shelly Woods coming along to support the event.
Jenny Ward, Early Years Physical Activity Development Officer, said: “We have been working very closely with nurseries and children’s centres to encourage physical activity and provide opportunities for our young children to be physically active.
“Developing and learning the basic fundamental skills at an early age is a great way to kick-off the children’s sporting journey, which can only benefit their long-term development.”
