Clarets give Yellows a case of the blues
Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde junior athletes were in winning form at the second Mid-Lancashire fixture of the season at Towneley Park, Burnley.
Felicity Barnes in third (7:31) led the way for the under-11 girls on the two lap 1.8km course, with Bethany Whipp eighth in 7:52 and Grace Blinacow 27th in 8:30 forming the team which finished first.
In the boys’ race Alex Macide was 13th in 7:34 and Jonny Goodacre was 34th in 8:14. It was first place on the 2.7 km course for the under 13 girls’ team with Caitlyn Preddy leading the way in ninth place in 11:59.
New member Hollie Winstanley made a good start in 12th with 12:02.
Lucy Tickle was 18th in 11:35 and Charlotte Barnes was 20th in 12:52.
On a 3.1 km course it was another first team place for the under-15 squad with Danielle Whipp in second place with 12:27, closely followed by Jessica Jackson in fourth with 12:31, Kate Jenkinson was 15th with 13:00 and Taylor Holland 19th in 14:03.
On the same course the 13 boys’ team of James Smith in 11th with 11:48, Jamie Jackson in 22nd with 2:34 and Lewis Weaver in 40th with 13:18 were sixth overall.
In the under 15 boys’ race Ben Preddy was fourth with 14:54, Jack Tickle 17th in 16:48 and on the same course in the under-17 women’s race Jessica Rogers was also fourth with 17:16.
Jessica Jackson and Taylor Holland travelled to Stanah to compete in the Fairclough Fun Run, held prior to the main Fairclough five- mile race.
On a course of nearly one mile starting on the banks of the River Wyre, Jessica and Taylor finished in first and second places.
