The autumn marathon season continued with the Chester Marathon, in which Karl Lee of Wesham Road Runners set a new personal best of 2.51.21.
Karl ran consistently, reaching the first three 10km splits at a sub-40 minute pace, then slowing to nearly 43 minutes for the fourth 10k.
Nigel Shepherd finished 546th in 3.30.32. Troy Watson clocked 3.42.51 for 797th place, Alan Taylor had a personal best 3.57.56 for 1,238th, Paul Carter ran very well for 4.16.29 and Steve Thompson was 2270th in 4.42.56 out of 3019.
Conditions were perfect for a fast 5km though the scenic grounds of Lytham Hall and Alex Rowe (V55) finished third in 17.30 and first veteran.
Diane Blagden was 13th woman and third V45 in 24.40, 49th overall. Dave Young was third M65 and 64th in 25.44, with Peter Cooke running well for 66th place in 25.57 and John Howorth third M60 in 26.23, 70th overall.
Paul Gregory finished second in the Coniston Trail Challenge in the Lake District, clocking 1.09.12 for the demanding course.
This began with a three-mile climb up to the old copper mines above Coniston and looped round Torver to finish by the shore.
Charles Colby, still running under the Wesham banner was 27th in 1.18.34, with Angela Colby 79th in 1.26.19. Richard Laughton finished a very good 37th in the main 15k Trail race in 1.13.38. There were just 15 runners in the fifth and final Pilling 10k, in which Vicky Barlow and Claire Bateman took the first two ladies’ places in 52.20 and 54.00. Emma Lund was fourth woman in the Blackpool to Fleetwood 10-mile race on Sunday, clocking 1.08.43 for 25th place overall in good conditions. Nicola Unsworth was ninth woman and second V40 in 1.13.35, 39th overall, and Sara Ward was 11th and third V45 in 1.18.01 and 55th place overall.
Phil Leaver ran the Preston parkrun and he clocked 22.44 for an M60 70.53 per cent age graded performance.
