Leyland steals show for Adlington
Although the first XI recorded a convincing six-wicket win at close rivals Golborne, pride of place must go this week to the second XI’s 17-year old Andrew Leyland.
He became Adlington’s fourth centurion of the season, batting through to remain undefeated on 109 against Blackrod.

A total of 249-4 proved too much for Blackrod, who were dismissed for 170. The main wicket takers were Robert Anderton (3-33) and Zack Green (3-51).
The first XI maintained their lead at the top of the table thanks to a fine all-round performance.
Having won the toss, Golborne chose to bat first on a perfect batting strip.

Dismissed at 62, it triggered a collapse, instigated by Ullah Naveed (5-52), who was backed up by tenacious fielding and fine catching.
Iain Critchley chipped in with two wickets, and the final score of 183 fell short of expectations.
A composed stand of 80 between Liam Kane and Stewart Plowes (40), paved the way for a typical Critchley innings, scoring 46 in just 40 balls.
Kane went on to record his first senior half-century (52).
The only negative was the loss of two late wickets meaning the loss of a bonus point.
