Lancashire junior athletics championships in Blackpool

Athletes from Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde AC were involved in a wide range of events with considerable success.

Probably the stand-out performance was posted by BWFAC’s Jasmine Carey in the under-15 pole vault.

While warming up for the competition Jasmine’s pole snapped in two. However, she continued to compete and went on to break Fiona Hockey’s Under-15 Championship performance record by a centimetre with 3.01m.

Amelia Shearman also cleared 3.01m for a pb and shared the lead for five minutes, until Carey succeeded at 3.11m and 3.35m to won the event and become joint number one U15 girl in the UK rankings.

Minnie Rogers won the bronze with 2.50m.

Carey had previously won silver in the 75m hurdles with 12.2 and was seventh in the long jump with 4.47m, both pbs.

In the U17 pole vault, Kirsty Rushton won gold with 2.80m and Katy Laycock won bronze with 2.20m.

Ash Colvin (see below)won gold in the U20 100m with a pb of 12.4 and bronze in the 200m (26.3).

James Nicholas was a double gold winner in the U15B 300m with 38.9 and the 200m with 24.7, both pbs.

Alexander Hughes won silver in the Ù17 200m (23.9), with Bradley Parsons winning bronze with a pb of 24.0 and Morgan Lilley finishing fifth.

Bradley was also fourth (11.7) in the 100m and seventh in the shot with a of 8.87m.

Edd Ralph won the U20 100m hurdles with 19.2 and Tom Godwin was second with 20.2.

Tom was competing in several events more or less simultaneously and had to run between them.

He finished second in the U20 pole vault, was third in the 300m and seventh in the long jump.

Jess Rogers (4:58.2) and Annie Bradshaw (2:16.7) won golds in the U20 1500 and 800 metres respectively. There were third places for Dani Whipp in the U17 800m and James Smith in the U15B race with 2:22.2 and 2:14.9.

Will Critchley just missed on medals in the U17 800m, finishing fourth in 2:04.1, as did Rafael Eaton in the U13B 200m with a pb of 30.4.

Mollie Mason won silvers in both the discus (28.51m) and hammer (42.72m).

Under-13 Kieran Howard won gold in the shot (6.45m) and silver in the javelin.

Ciaran Medd was second (37.45m) in the U17 discus, as was Maisie Rogers in 23.01 and fourth in the hammer (25.23m.

Chloe Norman won silver in the U17 high jump with 1.40m and Leah Howard won U15 bronze. Leah also had a pb of 14.2 in the 75m hurdles for fifth place.
