Dawson - half century

Lancashire's Kyle Jarvis celebrated his first five-wicket haul of the season, but Liam Dawson’s half century helped Hampshire build a healthy lead.

Jarvis ended the session with his best Lancashire figures of six for 61.

But Dawson crashed an accomplished 76 ball 50, his first of the campaign, to give the hosts a 75-run first innings lead and a crucial batting point.

Jarvis had ripped through the Hampshire middle-order with a spell of three for 12 before a short rain delay.

The fast bowler had Ian Holland lbw, three balls after he was dropped by Jos Buttler at second slip, before Gareth Berg edged to third slip.

Kyle Abbott and Mason Crane both edged behind before a 45-run stand between Dawson and Fidel Edwards helped the home side reached 224 when Dawson was bowled by leg-spinner Matt Parkinson for 75.
