irkham Grammar School athletes did themselves proud in the Sedbergh Preparatory invitational cross country championships, pride of place going to the under-11 girls and boys.
They put in a strong performance and were the winning team, Bo Madden leading the way in fifth place.
Talia Armstead was seventh, Hattie Madden eighth, Amy Merrick ninth, Dani Merrick 11th, Tillie Martin 24th, Poppy Kearsley 27th and Olivia Aberra 34th.
On an undulating course, the under-nine girls gained third place overall in an event of 80 runners.
Alexa Anderson led the way for Kirkham coming in third, well supported by Frankie Margerison (12th) Lily Jones (16th) Andy Kiely (17th) Nikita Murthy (33rd), Lucy Jones (34th) Sophie Wareing (42nd) and Olivia Noblett (54th)
The under-nine boys’ team finished the course in fifth place overall.
Harry Case was the top performer gaining fifth individual place with good support from Oliver Kollard (ninth) Harvey Barber 21st, Charles Wiltshire 33rd, James Shuttleworth 47th, Bruno Bowker 52nd, Taran Mathauda 61st and Ben Firth 68th.
The under-11 boys’ team took second place.
Top individual performer was Archie Dowds in seventh, who was well supported by Ben Wiggins (ninth) Alex Maude (11th) Adam Gregan (20th) Freddie Tarrant (21st) and Thomas Shuttleworth (34th) Charlie Read 36th and Sam Abram 41st.
