Jackson joins coaching staff

The 39-year-old, from Blackpool, will take charge of the club’s second team, Fylde Wanderers, and will also play for them.

The 6ft 6in lock has had an illustrious playing career with Orrell, Grenoble, Neath and London Scottish.

He is a qualified coach and has worked with the Lancashire Under-20s squad, alongside fellow Fylde packman Paul Arnold and the club’s new recruit Scott Barrow.

Jackson will work closely with Fylde’s head coach Mark Nelson, and the first and second team squads will train together on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Based in Newton-le-Willows, Jackson is a youth worker for Warrington Council. He said: “I want to develop a healthy competitive squad, and to do this, players need to be fit and focused on what we want to achieve as a team.

“Consistent, competitive performances are what I am asking for, which in turn will see players developing and first-team opportunities arising.

“I’m looking to develop a positive feel around the squad, which is visible both on and off the field.”

Fylde chairman of rugby Roger Grocott said: “We are putting more resources into the second team as we all realise its importance as a development environment for future first-team players.

“We are very grateful for the sterling contribution of Ben Hall, who coached the team last season. and he will play for the team in 2012/13.

“It’s up to Adam to take this on now. He’s keen that the team plays in the same open, attacking style as the first team and with the same ethos.

“He’ll be building on a good crop of young players, who have come through the Colts and junior teams, as well as recruiting new players who want to develop within the leading club in the North West outside the Premiership.”
