JIMMY Armfield may need a new trophy cabinet soon, as he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement accolade at the North West Football Awards.

The Seasiders legend, who has won countless honours throughout an illustrious life in football, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement accolade at the North West Football Awards.

Armfield, who has worked in football in various capacities for five decades, was presented with the award at a glittering ceremony in Manchester.

Ian Holloway was named manager of the year and Charlie Adam the Championship player of the year for their achievements last season.

Pool talisman Charlie Adam was unable to collect his Championship player of the year award because he was with the Scotland squad for last night's Euro 2012 qualifier against Spain.

It was accepted on his behalf at Lancashire Cricket Club by Matt Gilks, Pool's Rochdale-born keeper who was forced to withdraw from the Scotland squad because of injury.
