FYLDE lady golfers Linda Marr and Amelia Taylor reigned in Spain.

Linda, who plays out of Fleetwood Golf Club, and Amelia (St Annes Old Links) teamed up to won the Valentine pairs competition at the the Hacienda Del Alamo Golf Festival in Spain.

Amelia is one of the most promising young golfers at Old Links, while Linda was until recently junior organiser for the Lancashire Ladies County Golf Association.

The duo scored 34 points in the fourball better ball stableford format, which was enough to secure victory.

It is the second success in this event for Amelia who won the competition last year with Emily Taylor, who went on to have a hugely successful season persuading her to join the professional ranks. Amelia is coached at Old Links by head professional Daniel Webster.

The success of the pair is a big boost for the Association, who are already preparing for the up-coming campaign.

Sessions have already taken place in most unpleasant, cold weather conditions.

Others are planned for the coming weeks, including at Lytham Green Drive, where one of the professionals at the club, Sarah Walton, will add her expertise, having become a part of the county coaching set-up.
