THE soccer heroes of the 1966 World Cup triumph will be holding their annual golfing reunion at St Annes Old Links this summer.
The men who were in the squad that lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy hold a golf gathering every year, and this time it is being hosted by Jimmy Armfield and Bobby Charlton (pictured right).
They have chosen Old Links as the venue, and it will take place in around three months’ time. Most of the details about the competition are hush-hush at the moment, but 15 or 16 of the triumphant squad are expected to make the trip to the Fylde coast.
Armfield, the former England captain who did not manage to get into the starting line-up for ‘66, was reluctant to disclose many details at this stage.
