Fylde chairman to call it a day

Brennand, whose six-year term of office has coincided with an upsurge in the club’s fortunes on and off the field, will quit the post after the Fylde annual meeting in June.

He said: “I’ve been chairman for six years now and feel that it’s time for new blood at such an important time for the club.

“As a businessman, I passionately believe that organisations have to change and develop.”

Brennand has overseen a five-year plan, which he helped initiate back in 2006.

Projects include the expansion of activities in the new clubhouse, ground improvements, the installation of a new all-weather pitch, new floodlighting and a gym.

In addition, a new youth academy was set up, while the first team has achieved the highest league status since the turn of the century.

Brennand said: “We’ve had a great season so far, currently second in National One and the leading North West club outside the Premiership.

“We have followed on from winning the championship of National Two (North) last season in outstanding, attractive fashion.

“I couldn’t have imagined back in 2006 that we would achieve so much, effectively being the 26th-ranked club in England at the moment.

“So 2012-13 will be a very interesting time for someone else to take on the leadership of this great club. I will remain involved and will be able to support whoever is elected by our membership.”

Brennand says he is available to discuss the role with anyone interested in replacing him.

Brennand’s son Oli is a regular first teamer with Fylde.
