Oyston was chairman of the club when Bowyer, who today decided to step down from the job, was first appointed as manager back in June 2016.

He was eventually sacked in the role by his father Owen in January of this year.

He tweeted: "What a shambles. Hard to see a way forward that ends well, thanks Gary."

Pool fans will no doubt find amusement in the comment given the shambolic nature of the club started during his tenure as chairman.
