Graham Alexander says his Fleetwood side are two or three players short of what he wants.

Town have added four new additions to their squad this summer already, with a couple more hoping to follow in the next week.

It’s the manager’s first full season in charge after taking over from Micky Mellon in December.

And he knows exactly what he wants to bring to the club.

“At the moment I’d say we are probably two or three players short,” revealed Alexander.

“We have identified the positions we need to add to.

“We are really cautious about overloading the squad and getting back to unmanageable numbers.

“We definitely don’t want to do that.”

While Fleetwood have been quick off the mark, Alexander is in no rush to complete the rebuild.

And he’s warned fans may have to be patient before seeing the finished product.

“It could be a case that we start pre-season without the exact squad we want,” said the Town boss.

“We could wait until much closer to the start of the season.

“We also have a couple of players on the transfer list, so they could leave yet.

“We have to be patient, it might go right to the start of the season before we get the squad we want.

“We may even start the season, we won’t rush.

“But if we get the couple in that we want, then I’ll be more than content to go into the season.”
