'˜We have to start winning games,' says Pool defender

Hayden White says Blackpool need wins rather than just draws to secure their League One safety.

Pool travel to Rochdale today knowing victory would see them climb out of the bottom four.

While Neil McDonald’s men sit a point behind their rivals, with Fleetwood set to host Oldham, Pool have a real chance to make ground in the relegation battle.

And defender White, who has been an almost ever present since breaking into the side last year, feels Blackpool can avoid the drop.

“We have to start winning games, it’s not just about picking up single points,” he said.

“I don’t think there are too many worries in the camp, we all think we have enough to do what we have to do.

“There’s more than enough quality inside the dressing room, I don’t think we should be down there.

“We have lost and dropped points in places we shouldn’t have. That’s why we are down there and we know that has to change.”

White joined Blackpool on loan from Bolton back in October, making 26 appearances so far in the process. At just 20 he’s one of the squad’s younger players and admits he has turned to the older heads for advice.

And with that input he is hoping Blackpool can get back to winning ways this afternoon. He said: “Last weekend was an off day for us, we all know we didn’t deserve to win the game.

“I hoping this weekend we can give a better account of ourselves.

“We have players in there who we turn to, Emmerson Boyce, David Norris and Colin Doyle have all been around for long enough.

“We look at them for advice and hopefully they can help us over the next few weeks.

“This is a big club and no-one here wants to be relegated. We all know what we have to do here.

“We don’t care how we win or how we score, we just have to win.

“We don’t have a points tally as such, 50 might not be enough this season.

“Fleetwood have a game in hand but we have to go there. People are dropping points.”

White had managed just 15 career starts on loan at Bury, Notts County and Carlisle 
before his move to Bloomfield Road.

He said: “I’ve learned so much this season, the ups, the downs and everything.”
