Vassell shortlisted for Player of the Month award

Blackpool striker Kyle Vassell has been nominated for Sky Sports' League Two Player of the Month award.

The 24-year-old enjoyed another fruitful month, bagging three goals in November as Blackpool moved into the play-off places.

It now means the former Peterborough man has 11 goals in all competitions so far this season, and six in his last six games.

A shortlist of six players has been drawn up by an expert panel which includes pundits Paul Merson and Peter Beagrie, Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters Federation.

The full shortlist is as follows:

- Aaron Pierre (Wycombe Wanderers)

- John Akinde (Barnet)

- Kyle Vassell (Blackpool)

- Liam Mandeville (Doncaster Rovers)

- Matt Godden (Stevenage Town)

- Michael Smith (Portsmouth)

The winner will be decided by a public vote, which begins on Friday. The winner will then be announced at 10am the following morning.
