The Seasiders welcome Bradford City to Bloomfield Road today before facing two sides in and around in the league table in Northampton Town and Fleetwood Town respectively.

The three games will go a long way to deciding Pool’s fate this season, as Gary Bowyer’s men are still short of confirming their League One status for next season.

But Vassell, who netted his 10th goal of the season in Blackpool’s 2-1 defeat at Oldham Athletic on Monday, says the players are confident that they will stay up.

“I wouldn’t say we’re nervy,” he said. “We know what we need to do and we know we’re definitely capable of doing what we need to do.

“We should have done it by now but we’re looking forward to the games we have left and getting safe.

“We’ve got Bradford, Northampton and Fleetwood this week so we need to get the maximum out of these games.

“These games are six-pointers, so we need to get as many points as we can.

“We’ve got a good record at home so we’re looking forward to these three games.

“When you’re winning, it’s brilliant when you have so many games coming up so quickly.

“But it’s good when you’re losing as well, because you can set things right as soon as possible.

“You always look at the table because you care and you want to know where you are.

“But when the games come, you need to get the most out of every game so you do need that ‘one game at a time’ mentality.

“But you also need to be aware of what is going on around you.”

Blackpool come into today’s game on the back of two defeats over the Easter period against Doncaster Rovers and Oldham respectively.

It leaves the Seasiders on 47 points, five clear of the bottom four, although several sides in and around them in the table still have games in hand to play.

“The results over Easter were disappointing but that’s football,” Vassell added. “Things don’t always work out how you expected them to.

“As long as you keep going and keep fighting, things will work out.

“On a personal level I’m just trying to do what I can for the team. I scored on Monday but I just need to keep fighting for the team and hopefully everyone else will keep fighting for each other and we’ll be fine.

“The spirit is good, we’ve got a very good spirit.”

When asked what he is expecting from Bradford this weekend, Vassell replied: “A win.”
