Uwe Rosler's reaction from Fleetwood 2 Walsall 1

Fleetwood Town boss Uwe Rosler says Walsall player Matt Preston's challenge on Kyle Dempsey that saw the Town midfielder stretchered off at the end of Fleetwood's 2-1 win over Walsall was '˜disgraceful'.

Goals from Ash Hunter and Bobby Grant gave Town a 2-0 lead before young Walsall player George Dobson reduced the deficit.

But Town’s impressive performance that saw them move up to seventh in the League One table was overshadowed by Preston’s late challenge on Dempsey that saw the youngster sustain what is understood to be a deep gash to his leg.

Dempsey has been rushed to hospital and Rosler says all of the clubs thoughts are with the midfielder.

He said: “I’m delighted with the players, their application, performance, spirit but we paid a heavy price today.

“(Dempsey) is cut through. We had a Jimmy Ryan scenario at Port Vale where someone (Anthony Grant) absolutely went for him (Ryan) has to be operated now.

“We have today’s situation where a player went for (Dempsey) and only got a yellow, it was a disgraceful tackle.

“Our thoughts and my thoughts are with the player he is now getting into the hospital and we will see overnight what happens.

“I have to compose myself because I really enjoyed the game but I think how the game ended with Kyle is a bitter taste for myself.”
