Town's players pass another test of character

Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler says Town's late goals are no coincidence as they prepare for another tough test at MK Dons.

Town fought back from 1-0 down to collect three points on against fellow play-off chasers Bradford City on Tuesday.

Rosler paid tribute to their physical and mental strength after Conor McLaughlin’s cross was inadvertently bundled home by Bradford’s Rory McArdle in the eighty-first minute to clinch another three points.

It was the first time Town have beaten the Bantams and the first time they have come from a goal behind in the league to win since defeating Bury 4-3 in August 2015.

McArdle’s late own goal was the fourth time in the last six games that Rosler’s men have netted late in the game as their unbeaten run extended to 15 matches.

Town’s head coach also highlighted how his preferred 3-5-2 line-up helped them to stay in the game.

Despite Stuart McCall’s side dominating the first half, Bradford only found themselves a goal to the good after Jordy Hiwula’s 43rd minute opener.

Ex-Bantam Devante Cole then kicked off Town’s fightback in the 68th minute and sent them on the way to another Tuesday night win.

Rosler said: “I think that shape that we have in the first half, what we play the majority of games now in the first half allows you to stay in the game even if you don’t have the best day.

“They didn’t really have a lot of chances; they had two massive chances, one from Jordy and when they scored with the one-two.

“In general they were completely on top but in such games you need to stay in the game and when it is only 1-0 you always have a chance to come back.

“I think also, mentally and physically, it is no coincidence that we are winning or drawing lots of games and it was just another example of that.

“I’m just so happy that we won that game, I didn’t see it coming after that first half to be fair.

“I’m happy for the players. It was another team effort.

“It is not that we have one player who decides every game, it is more a team.

“We are presenting ourselves very well as a team and, now and then, someone comes up with something special.”
