Fleetwood Town’s summer recruitment drive continued apace with two more signings yesterday, making it three in two days.
The League Two club confirmed the signings of Northern Ireland midfielder Jeff Hughes and former Halifax defender Liam Hogan following the arrival of midfielder Steven Schumacher from Bury.
Hughes has spent the past two seasons at Notts County, making almost 100 appearances.
The left-sided midfielder, 29 next week, has arrived as a free agent on a two-year deal.
Hughes said: “The idea was sold to me of how Fleetwood plan to go forward and it’s an exciting prospect.
“The vision of the club drew me here and the things they have in place to go forward. Hopefully I will bring goals, a competitive edge and a bit of experience.”
Having also had spells with Lincoln, Crystal Palace and Bristol Rovers, Hughes added: “My first season at Notts was considerably better than my second.
“We chopped and changed a bit and I played in different positions, which hindered me, but I thought we did quite well and I enjoyed my time there.”
He won both his full Northern Ireland caps in 2006 and Fleetwood manager Graham Alexander said: “Jeff has experience and knows how to score goals.
“He’s hard-working and good on the ball.
“He’s spent a few seasons in League One but knows all about our league.”
