This team will click vows Blackpool boss Bowyer

Sooner or later it is going to 'click' for Blackpool according to manager Gary Bowyer.

The Seasiders’ winless run at Bloomfield Road was extended to nine games on Saturday, when they drew 2-2 with Walsall.

But it could prove to be a vital point for Bowyer’s side, who were forced to come from behind twice to seal a draw that keeps them two points clear of the League One drop zone in 19th.

But Bowyer insists the mood is still positive among his squad, despite only two wins in 18 games.

He said: “We just need to keep believing, keep working with each other and keep supporting.

“The supporters were terrific with us, by the way. They stuck with us before the game; they stuck with us again throughout as well.

“That’s what they’ve been like throughout our time here.

“I hope they keeping doing that because sooner or later it’s going to click for us and we’ll go on a run like we did at the end of last season.

“We’re not walking around feeling sorry for ourselves. We never will do that.”

As has been the case many times this season, Pool controlled much of Saturday’s game but were unable to put the opposition to the sword.

Walsall opened the scoring against the run of play through Joe Edwards only for Nathan Delfouneso to equalise with a composed finish.

Jon Guthrie thought he had won it for the Saddlers when he capitalised on a mistake from Ollie Turton 15 minutes from time.

But Armand Gnanduillet came off the bench to equalise with a cool finish in the 89th minute.

Bowyer added: “It was another frustrating afternoon but from an attacking point of view we were very good, with the number of chances we created and the number of attempts on goal.

“We worked their goalkeeper into three very good saves. We’ve had three cleared off the line and had a stonewall penalty not given.

“We conceded a goal from a corner, when it had gone out for a throw.

“But I’m delighted with the way we went about it to get back in the game.

“The frustrating thing is we gave the ball away cheaply in our own half (for their first goal). Fore the second goal, the ball went out for a throw-in but a corner was given.

“Once you concede the corner, you have to defend it. Ollie should just put his foot through it. We failed to go with Guthrie at the back post and he’s tapped it in.

“So it’s very frustrating from a defensive point of view. But I thought we were very good in attack and should have had more.

“We’ve had the majority of the game, the majority of the chances and the way we’ve gone about it has been right.”
