The Shakers were tipped as an outside bet for the play-offs at the start of the season after investing heavily in their squad during the summer.

But that’s not turned out to be case, as they currently find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table having won just five games all season.

Despite their woes, Bowyer believes Ryan Lowe’s side will still present the Seasiders with plenty of problems.

“On paper you look at them and they’ve got quality all the way through the squad,” he said.

“So it’s not for me to comment on why they’ve struggled but they do carry a threat.

“Technically speaking they’re onto their fourth manager now. They started with Lee Clark, went on to Chris Lucketti and Ryan Lowe has done the caretaker’s job twice this season; something I did with Blackburn so I know what’s it like for him.

“The frustrating thing for us in terms of this window is how teams around us have all gone in and strengthened. Bury have done the same.

“So we’re aware of the challenge which Saturday presents because they do have a very experienced squad.

“Someone was talking about the average age of our squad being around 23, so it’s a young squad going into a game against a very experienced squad.

“I only know Ryan over the course of time of his playing career and I’ve bumped into him a couple of times.

“The club have shown they value him, they’ve backed him and he’s got them their first win in a while at Oxford so he’s doing something right that’s for sure.”

Blackpool go into the game with fresh legs having had their home game against Charlton Athletic postponed due to a waterlogged pitch last weekend.

There are no fresh injuries for Bowyer’s men, who have recently welcomed Dolly Menga back to training.
