Striker Vassell ready for shot at promotion with Blackpool
Gary Bowyer’s men climbed to ninth in the League Two table, just one point off the play-offs, after seeing off Notts County 4-0 at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
The win leaves the Seasiders, who are unbeaten in five games, just one place below a County side who started the day sixth.

And the striker insists the squad has the right stuff to build on their good form.
Vassell said: “We believe there is enough in the squad for a tilt at promotion but that doesn’t mean anything if we don’t pick up the points.
“We need to keep going and dig in. We scored four but it was also a great performance from the back four as well as the keeper. We’ve needed clean sheets and we’ve got three now, so that’s brilliant.”

He drilled his first into the bottom corner after the ball had deflected to him inside the box, a goal which signalled a period of domination from the hosts.
The 23-year-old added: “It’s nice to score any goal, but in that situation you’ve just got to stay composed and keep it low.
“I love scoring goals, so if I can get in those positions I’ll do my best to do exactly that.”

He said: “I’m delighted to get the win and for the boys to get a clean sheet. Everyone dug in and did well to see out the tough times.
“I’ve said before that this sort of win has been coming and this time it’s clicked.”
Vassell also had plenty of praise for Matt, who netted in the second half after missing an open goal earlier in the game.

“I said, ‘You’re scoring the next one!’ and he did. As strikers, we’ve all missed easy chances – it’s the ones you score that are important.”
