Striker Quigley hopes to prove a point to Blackpool

Blackpool striker Scott Quigley has joined Port Vale on loan

The 25-year-old has yet to make a league start for the Seasiders, with most of his appearances in tangerine coming in their EFL Trophy campaign.

The striker enjoyed a fruitful loan spell in the National League with Wrexham last season.

However, the former TNS man is looking forward to testing himself in the league above after sealing a season-long loan deal with the Valiants last week.

“It’s going to be my first proper stint in the Football League so I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“I’m really excited to bring myself here and hopefully I can impress the fans.

“But I also want to help Port Vale get back into League One or at least end the season at the right end of the table.

“Obviously I want to score goals. I’m a centre-forward so that’s the main thing for me.

“I’m a strong lad and I’m quick as well, so I like playing in behind, but I don’t mind coming to feet either.

“A lot of people assume that I’m not that fast being a big lad, but I like to surprise them.

“That first game against Cambridge is what I’m focused on at the moment, that’s where my head is at.

“I can’t wait to show what I have got to the fans and hopefully push on from there.”

After making the move to Bloomfield Road from Welsh outfit TNS in August 2017, the striker only made nine appearances in the league with all of them coming off the bench.

He then joined Wrexham in January where he scored eight times in 17 matches with seven of those goals coming in his first eight appearances for the club.

Quigley, who will line up against Blackpool in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 21, will now continue his summer preparations with a trip to Ireland along with his new Port Vale team-mates.

He added: “On my first day at the club we had a bit of a running session before going into an 11 v 11, so with being new that helps me find out what different players are capable of and what to expect from them.

“They need to get to know me as well, discovering what I’m good at and maybe not so good at, but hopefully everyone can mould together and then it’s happy days.

“The trip away will be important, and that is why most clubs have bonding sessions where you’re going to be away and in the same environment with all of the other lads.”
