Manager Andy Clarkson welcomed back Seydou Bamba after concussion to replace Dave Rossall. Gate controlled most of the first half but were wasteful in front of goal until Harries scored twice in two minutes late in the half. Harries broke the deadlock on 38 minutes, jinking past his man into the box before his shot took a deflection over the keeper.A rare break by Vics saw home keeper Ben Fletcher deny the visitors one-on-one before captain Harries completed his quickfire double, looping a shot over the stationary keeper. Fletcher came to the rescue early in the second half after a rare Gate mistake led to another one-one-one.Fired-up Gate extended their lead on 63 minutes when Pett, who troubled the defence all night, was hacked down in the box and converted the penalty coolly. Pett was again in the right place to tap home at the far post on 75 minutes. Dean Ing completed this massive win in the 81st minute, showing his strength to beat his man and fire home. The win strengthens Gate's grip on ninth spot in the Hallmark Security League premier division ahead of Saturday's trip to Ashton Athletic.Gate: Fletcher, Gray, Richards, Rothwell, Colquhoun, Bamba, Riley, Ing, Pett, Harries Sinclair; subs: Charnley, Mullen, Finlayson, Salthouse, Pope.
