The Seasiders’ winless run in League Two at Bloomfield Road was extended to seven games last weekend, after Gary Bowyer’s men squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Crewe Alexandra.

The Tangerines have won only five of their 15 league games on home turf this season, with the last of these against Newport County in November.

Asked if he could explain Pool’s home form, Taylor replied: “If I could I’d be a millionaire. I wouldn’t be here.

“I can’t put a finger on why we weren’t as good (against Crewe) as we normally are but we weren’t.

“Having said that, we found ourselves 2-0 up and we just had to see that out. We had to take it as an ugly win, take the three points and move on. But we weren’t able to do that.

“We’ve just got to keep going. There are 15 games left to play and 45 points up for grabs.

“We’ve got to get as many of those points as we can and see where it takes us.

“There’s no time to sulk and feel sorry for ourselves.

“Hopefully we will put a run together and make a late push for the play-offs.”

Despite slipping back into the bottom half of the table, Pool remain just five points outside the top seven.

However, their play-off credentials will be given a thorough examination in the coming weeks as they face a number of teams in and around them, starting with the 550-mile round trip to Exeter City on Saturday.

“Each Saturday there are three points up for grabs,” added 30-year-old Taylor. “Anything can happen and it’s a very strange league, as has been proved many a time.

“It’s a cliche but we have to dust ourselves down and go again.”

Taylor returned to the starting line-up on Saturday after spending a short time out with a shoulder injury sustained towards the end of the 0-0 bore-draw with Crawley on February 7.

“I’ve never really had a shoulder problem before, so I wasn’t quite sure what it was. I just knew it was really sore,” he said.

“I had all the checks and it was all clear, but it’s still a little sore. It is manageable, so I was pleased to get back in the team.”
