Simon Grayson satisfied with talented squad at Fleetwood Town

Head coach Grayson has made a mixed start at Highbury and goes into Saturday’s home clash with Charlton Athletic after a draw, a win and a defeat.

The 51-year-old arrived at the club on deadline day and signed Hull City midfielder Dan Batty on loan.

More loan signings were considered but Town already had five on their books – the maximum allowed in a matchday squad.

Free agents are still available but he Cod Army boss is happy with his group and doesn’t expect to welcome any more new faces this season.

Grayson has seen what his squad is capable of and has an eye on the academy.

He said: “We’ve got what we’ve got until the end of the season.

“We’ve said all along that this is a group with some talented players.

“In the first two games we’ve done well and at Plymouth (where Town lost 1-0 on Saturday) we’ve shown we can be a match for anybody.

“We proved that against Doncaster and Plymouth, who are unbeaten in eight, so there are a lot of good points to come out of the three games I’ve been in charge of.

“Of course we’re all disappointed that we’ve lost a game but that happens in football.

“You have to dust yourselves down and go on to next week.

“We have some talented players and we’ve given one or two younger players opportunities. I’ve been impressed by the whole group.”
