Evans takes over that number from Wes Burns, who now has the number seven shirt vacated by last term’s top scorer, Huddersfield loanee Jordy Hiwula. The numbers could be a clue as to which front three Joey Barton opts for when Town start their new League One campaign against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.Number 10 Conor McAleny impressed in a front three alongside Burns and Evans in Town’s 3-1 pre-season victory over Morecambe on Saturday. It is no surprise to see Alex Cairns taking the number one jersey following Chris Neal’s summer move to Salford City earlier this summer as right-back Lewie Coyle returns on loan from Leeds United to reclaim his number two shirt.Left-back Eddie Clarke is number three, though Joe Maguire (13) or Tommy Spurr (six) could take on that role come 3pm on Saturday.Rangers loan star Jason Holt will miss that opener due to suspension and takes the number four shirt with Preston North End loanee Spurr taking the number six jersey previously worn by Nathan Pond before his summer exit.New skipper Craig Morgan has been given the number 20 shirt with Burnley signing Chris Long slotting in at number 14 and new midfielder James Wallace given the number 38 top.Development squad players Ashley Nadesan, Nathan Sheron, Billy Crellin and Matt Urwin have all been given numbers as they take the number 24, 29, 31 and 21 shirts respectively.Fleetwood Town 2018/19 squad: 1 Alex Cairns, 2 Lewie Coyle, 3 Eddie Clarke, 4 Jason Holt, 5 Ashley Eastham, 6 Tommy Spurr, 7 Wes Burns, 8 Kyle Dempsey, 9 Ched Evans, 10 Conor McAleny, 11 Bobby Grant, 12 Cian Bolger. 13 Joe Maguire, 14 Chris Long, 17 Paddy Madden, 19 Gethin Jones, 20 Craig Morgan, 21 Matty Urwin, 22 Ashley Hunter, 24 Ashley Nadesan, 27 Harrison Biggins, 28 Jack Sowerby, 29 Nathan Sheron, 31 Billy Crellin, 38 James Wallace.
