Blackpool Football Club’s shop and ticket office in Seasiders Way is up for rent, a move today branded by one fans’ group as a ‘sad sign of the times’.

The Gazette understands the club has plans to relocate its retail outlets to the south side of the ground, adjacent to Bloomfield Road.

That opens up the 6,100 square feet on the north west corner of the stadium free to be rented out.

Kenricks is marketing the club shop as a ‘rare’ opportunity within the ‘landmark’ Blackpool Football Club.

But for the Blackpool Supporters’ Trust (BST), which last year launched a bid to buy the club, the move is another sign of decline.

Spokesman Christine Seddon said: “It’s another sad sign of the times, of what a complete mess our football club has become.

“What is incredible is that none of this is necessary.

“It all results from the policies of the Oyston family.

“I just hope the Oystons will realise Blackpool fans are not kidding.”

Other fans have wasted no time in making their opinions known about the club shop plans on social media – many claiming it is a consequence of fans staying away from the ground.

According to Kenricks the site for lease includes retail space, booking office, four offices and three store rooms and it is suggested retail, catering, offices. The firm believes the Bloomfield Road site is a prime location.

Nobody from Blackpool FC was available to comment.
