Seasiders' squad will stay on the front foot

Pool have the third worst away record in the league and are without a win in five on the road.

The Seasiders have looked to take the game to their opponents and have created a number of chances.

Bowyer says it is his squad’s next challenge to improve on their away record – but insists he won’t change his side’s style of play.

He said: “Our home form has been fabulous, but we need to make sure the positive performances we’ve had on the road, and we’ve not been bad, are transformed into positive results.

“We’ve created lots of chances on the road and for me to take one striker out and block it up, that’s not what we’re about.

“It would be the wrong message to send out to the players to change the system just because we’re away from home.

“When the referee blows the whistle the game is the same whether we’re home or away.”

Blackpool’s 4-0 win against Notts County last weekend saw the Seasiders extend their unbeaten run to five games, as they climbed to ninth in the League Two table and just a point off the play-offs.

But Bowyer has sent out a strong message that his players need to remain level headed and focus on the task ahead.

He added: “There’s 30 games left and 90 points up for grabs, so that’s a hell of a lot of points to play for. That’s been the message to the players this week about not getting carried away.

“I thought against County there were still areas of our game where we could still improve and we’ve worked on that this week in training.

“When I first came here I told the players they’ve got to turn up and enjoy it, because that’s important in any profession you’re in.

“We’ve created that environment and obviously winning games gives you that boost. You just have to look at the league table, you can go from 15th up to ninth, it’s crazy. You can’t rest and you have to keep wanting to get better.

“Don’t rest and think you’ve cracked it, because this game has a habit of slapping you across the face with a big, fat, wet fish.”
