Jimmy Ryan is eyeing a chance to push up the table as Fleetwood Town host Port Vale this afternoon.
Fleetwood have faced two of League One’s giants in the last fortnight – former Premier League clubs Bradford and Wigan. A point from the two games isn’t the best return but Ryan believes a similar performance to Town’s last home outing will yield rewards today.
The midfielder said: “We’ve had a couple of difficult games. Bradford at home was a hard one and you know they’re always going to come for a battle. A draw probably wasn’t a bad result.
“Obviously you want to win your home games but so far we’ve not played badly. It’s just a case of getting a few more goals and cutting silly mistakes out.
“We have to go into Saturday looking for a win, which puts us back up where we want to be – near the play-offs. That’s what we’ve got to aim for.”
And Ryan knows a win can go a long way. He added: “One win can put you right up there. It’s only three or four points to the play-offs but it’s early days. It’s not time to write anybody off.
“If you were four points off with 10 games to go, you’d be happy. We’ve just got to concentrate on getting wins.
“It’s just about how we perform and how many points we can get on the board.”
