Rosler: Show me you deserve to start
Fleetwood Town boss Uwe Rosler says Godswill Ekpolo's return to the first team is just another example of how impressing in training pitch can pave the path to the first team.
With Ash Eastham sidelined due to injury, the ex-Barcelona youth player got the nod to start on the right of the back three for the 1-0 win at Walsall.
It was his first start since the 2-1 defeat at Port Vale in November with the 21-year-old Nigerian returning to the squad in recent weeks and making a cameo appearance in the win at MK Dons with his visa issues now resolved.
Development squad striker Alex Reid was also an unused substitute at Walsall in his first call-up to the first team squad, while Rosler also praised Cameron Brannagan after the on-loan Liverpool midfielder set up Cian Bolger’s decisive goal at Walsall in midweek.
He said: “Godswill has not played at all and did really well. I think it was a game that suited him, he played really well for the development squad.
“That is what I always say; how you train and how you play can always put a case forward to start in the first team.
“Cameron also very good, not only with his set-piece delivery but his all round play.
“He was so eager to do well and he sometimes did the wrong thing for the right reason.”
