Rosler keen to avoid another overhaul

Stability is key for Fleetwood head coach Uwe Rosler as the hinges on the January transfer window start to squeak open.

Town brought in 14 new players last summer before Rosler’s arrival ahead of the new League One campaign.

Rosler doesn’t want a repeat of that situation and admits the club is aiming to do deals as soon as possible.

He said: “We are not a Premier League club that has the possibility to extend their contracts a year before, three quarters of a year or six months before.

“We are speaking to certain people, we are trying to put certain things in place.

“We want to do our business early, I would like to have a certain stability in our squad.

“I think last year - last summer was a complete turnover in terms of 14 new players in and I think we can’t afford that to happen this season again.”

A number of big players, like Northern Ireland full-back Conor McLaughlin, have their contracts up at the end of the campaign.

Leeds United, Reading and a number of other Championship clubs were rumoured to be eyeing up the 25-year-old after his stint at Euro 2016.

While Rosler says there has been no official interest in any of his players, he is aware that people have been talking about some of his players.

He said: “I would like to continue to work with the majority of the group. I think there is a good vibe around the place, the players like to play here, they like to play for us.

“I know that people are talking about one or two of our players but that will always be the case for us, that we have to sell when the right offer comes in.

“So that makes it sometimes a bit difficult – but also interesting.”
