Rosler happy with Town's resolve

Fleetwood drew 0-0 in their second round clash at League One’s basement club Shrewsbury Town on Saturday and are now expected to face a replay at Highbury on December 13.

Rosler will find out who his side could face as the big boys from the Premier League and Championship enter the competition for the first time.

The German could face a tie at his beloved Manchester City as Fleetwood eye a competitive clash against a top flight side for the first time in their history.

But the Town boss is just focusing on the task in hand – beating Paul Hurst’s men at Highbury and being one of the 64 teams in the third round – before thinking about the next round or potential opposition.

And the Town boss says that it was a fair result despite Shrewsbury’s Louis Dodds hitting the post after sprinting one-on-one with Fleetwood shot-stopper Alex Cairns, Junior Brown also hitting the woodwork and Ivan Toney lifting a late free-kick onto the bar.

He said: “They had one big chance.

“The free-kick was a good effort from a long distance.

“Apart from that I don’t think they had a lot.

“I think they made it difficult for us, we didn’t turn up in the beginning, we started too slow.

“We didn’t do what we did in the last three games.

“We got unsure then, we lost our confidence when things went against us, especially on the ball.

“In the end I’m very happy with the way we ground out a result.

“In the second half we got stronger and stronger but we didn’t have enough quality to finish our very good counter-attacks off because their midfielders had problems to stay with us.

“I don’t think we did enough to win the game but in the end two teams cancelled each other out for long distances.

“They didn’t use the massive chance they had and in the end it is a fair result.”
