Returning trio set to boost Fleetwood Town

Fleetwood head coach Uwe Rosler says Jimmy Ryan, Amari'i Bell and Aaron Amadi-Holloway will all play some part in the club's opening League One game at Northampton Town tomorrow.

Ryan (foot) and Bell (hamstring) have missed chunks of the summer build-up and did not feature in the final game of pre-season against Wigan last Friday.

Amadi-Holloway has spent most of the summer continuing his recovery from a broken ankle after joining from League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

He made his first appearance from the bench against Wigan at Highbury.

But as Rosler prepares for his first game in charge of Town he says the club still need to manage and monitor Amadi-Holloway’s recovery and that the striker is doing extra sessions to try and get himself back up to speed.

He said: “After his injury we are now in a tricky situation where we have to include him but we have to bring him up to speed because his rehabilitation hasn’t gone 100 per cent.

“The player is a little bit behind schedule. But we will get that right and the player is very committed.

“He has talked about the fitness department and the medical department so he will do extra sessions and he will look forward to doing that because he knows that that will only benefit him but he will definitely be involved tomorrow.”

Rosler took his first training session with the players on Monday and has had four more days to observe, train and get to know the squad.

And Rosler says that due to the short length of time he has spent at the club there will be no drastic changes tomorrow.

But the 47-year-old German, who is keen to put his own attacking stamp on the team, says he will make some gradual adjustments.

He said: “I think when you are going into a football club and having full training sessions before the first league game I don’t think it is wise to make completely changes.

“I think what we try to do is small adjustments. The players have shown me that they take it on board very quick but I don’t think there will be major changes in terms of personnel or system.”

And one man helping Rosler get those tactical adjustments across ahead of tomorrow’s game is new assistant head coach Rob Kelly.

When Pressley left so did his assistant, Neil MacFarlane, but Rosler has acted fast to secure the services of Kelly, who he worked with at Leeds during his bried spell as manager in 2015.

Kelly was his assistant at Leeds and Rosler was delighted to get him on board before the big kick-off.

He said: “I am very fortunate to have such an experienced football man next to me.

“He has been in football for many years, he has been in my shoes as a manager, he has been an assistant, a first team coach and he even started a sporting director role at the University of Manchester.

“So he has in all areas a lot of experience were I can tap in and ultimately so to can the football club.

“I’m delighted to have him here. We have a lot of young players, we have a lot of coaching in front of us.

“I think we have a lot of psychology in front of us and Rob can be a mentor, a coach, a father figure for some of our very young players and sometimes those players are not always opening up to the manager but they are maybe opening up to the assistant, the first team coach or the goalkeeping coach.

“I think we have a good balance in our team now.

“We had our third training session on Thursday to bring the message across is quite tough.

“The tactical session on Thursday was very good.

“The players are smart, they took the information from our analysis session on board and showed promising signs on how we will address the game against Northampton.”
