Adams' side came into the game off the back of a 2-0 win against third-placed Carlisle United at the weekend, but lost their third Tuesday night home game in as many weeks courtesy of goals from Mark Cullen, Brad Potts and Jordan Flores.

"That is the hard thing being a manager," Adams said. "You have seen a very good performance on Saturday and tonight you have seen a performance that hasn't enabled us to take anything from the game.

"I thought that Blackpool deserved to win the match. Our performance was not the same performance as Saturday. It is difficult to see how that can happen.

"We will have to look at the video and watch the game again and see what the problems were. We obviously didn't create enough chances tonight in the first-half or second-half and we allowed soft goals from Blackpool. Over the 90 minutes they thoroughly deserved to win.

"In this league it is important you get the first goal and they were able to get that. They got a wee bit of momentum and were able to get the second goal and it is an uphill task after that. We didn't do enough tonight to get a goal."

After establishing their two-goal lead Blackpool were able to sit behind the ball and play on the counter attack, with Flores scoring the Seasiders' third just after the hour mark.

"It's very difficult," Adams added. "We had passages of play that could have led to an opportunity. We have hit ones past the post and we have been in good areas with set plays as well and haven't been able to get that goal to take it back to 2-1.

"They pushed us back and I thought they played well at times. There was opportunities for us but we didn't take them when they came along."
