The right-back made 29 appearances for the Seasiders last season on loan from Bolton Wanderers and was high on manager Neil McDonald’s wish-list for the coming season.

McDonald revealed to The Gazette last month that the club had “been trying all season”to make White’s move to Bloomfield Road permanent and would again attempt to sign him at the end of the season.

But following the club’s relegation to League Two and the uncertainty surrounding the future of the manager, White has instead opted to join the club which condemned Pool to relegation with a 5-1 hammering on the final day.

The 21-year-old joined the Seasiders last October and scored his only goal on his second appearance, a 2-0 win over Crewe.

White made only five appearances in three years at Bolton and was released when his contract expired at the end of the season.

The Sheffield Wednesday youth product said of his latest move: “I’m very pleased to have signed for Posh. I can’t wait to get started.”

It leaves Blackpool without a professional right-back on their books following the release of Emmerson Boyce last week.

Since announcing its retained list last Wednesday, the club has had nothing more to say about football matters, including the future of McDonald.
